Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Hello all,

This is not really a blog post, but just a quick way of reaching out to everyone possible and wishing you and your loved ones – Merry Christmas!

Christmas is so much more meaningful when you are with near & dear ones, when you spend it with people who are a huge part of your life. My personal request to all of you would be that this Christmas, pick up the phone and speak to that one person who at some point in your life meant a lot to you but for whatever reason (or simply with time ) you both have lost touch. Even if one person is reminded / inspired by this post, and is able to restore a relationship, I’d be delighted!

We live in a tough world any which way, let’s add some Christmas cheer to it! The world really needs it.

Stay happy everyone.

Lots of love,

The Silent Hummer,

We are never ever getting back together

This Taylor Swift song is rightly meant from my friend to Ebay India.

Ebay dress

Somewhere around April this year, a friend of mine saw this pretty flowy-like dress on Ebay India. It was very similar to the one in the pic above and costed about Rs. 1299/- Being the online shopoholic that she is, it didn’t take too long to punch in her credit card details and tick the saved address for delivery. As I mentioned in my previous post, even though you know what’s packed in that courier packet, the excitement is always there. So obviously when her dress arrived, with that big smile on her face she opened it. And I’m not exaggerating when I say her face dropped. Yea, forget the smile, her face dropped!

The dress that was supposed to be flowy and attractive, looked like the tailor just grabbed some left over material and made whatever he could in 30 mins. It didn’t have any fit, the material condition looked shabby with extra thread dangling along the edges. The color differed from the picture on the website. In simple words, it was crap. Here, take a look.

Today with online shopping, returns and excahnge aren’t such a problem.Unfortunately it’s not so with Ebay India. The customer service representative asked her to courier the dress back, for which she would be refunded by Ebay India. After several calls back and forth, checking and re confirming, credit or cash discussions, my pal finally got a cheque. However, the cheque cannot be deposited as it has her ebay account name which is really a short name. They didn’t even bother asking on who’s name should the cheque be. Also, on letting them know about it, they refused to make any changes and said the matter is closed from their end. On asking for any higher authority’s contact details they gave some forever unreachable contact numbers. We’ve finally given up on Ebay India, but what’s worse is Ebay India has lost 2 of it’s customers. Such a shame.

The point of this post is:

1) To warn you against shopping from Ebay India
2) To save your time, money and energy.

If you wish to continue shopping from Ebay India, do so at your own risk.

Oh also, I’ve heard some of the most random and funniest lines while listening to my frustrated friend’s conversation with Ebay India representatives:
– Ebay gulps our cash like they’re really hungry
– I want to know the climax, not the trailer
– The cheque also hasn’t come to me yet! Doesn’t it have legs?

Dark Horse Art Festival 2015

Standard

Jute Camel

The one event I’ve been attending every year since college is the Kala Ghoda Art Festival. This year too, it was no different. It was a Saturday, the second last day of the festival, PLUS Valentines’ Day. In short it was super packed! Check out the crowd.

Crowd

My trip to the KGAF 2015 was never planned to be a Valentine day outing, t’was simply mere co- incidence. Bigger co- incidence? I wore a red shirt, that I’ve never worn ever!! It’s not like I’m anti- valentine, it’s just if I had realized, I would’ve chosen something else.

Me at KGF

On getting out of the cab, as we stood at the entrance, looking at the crowd we were in two minds whether we should get in or not. But we realized that the security check was just a formality and the lines were moving real quick. Rightly, I didn’t even have to open the zip of my bag at the security check point and I got in.
Despite the afternoon heat, the place was bursting with color and energy. There were the young and the old. College going youngsters, little boys and girls with their parents, even elderly couples were around. The stalls were packed, we attempted looking at the stuff in a few stalls initially but with the crowd it was tough, both for us as well as the stall keepers. We decided we’ll be happy just watching the art.
It’s amazing how every year they have magnificent themes and art installations, that too with very loud and clear social messages.
One of my favorites this year was the Big tap placed above a bigger bucket. As you looked into the bucket, there was a video on Saving Water. There were others too, see the pics.

A round of the entire place took us nothing more than an hour or a little more, considering we didn’t stop at too many stalls, just a few dozen pics you know.

Even outside the main venue, there were a lot of sellers with innovative and interesting things, right from posters, to junk jewellery, to floral hairbands, toys, musical flutes and what not. Getting a cab with all this hustle and bustle wasn’t possible no matter how tired we were, so we figured it was best to walk to CST Station and move accordingly from there.

Nolasco who loves photography, would never miss a chance to click this monumental building no matter how often he’s here, and this is what he captured.

Over all, it was a great outing with friends, except wrong time of the day chosen. Lesson learnt.
